In The Spotlight Today: J.M. Ralley!

How old are you and where are you from?

I’m 44 and from Dudley in the West Midlands, England. Black Country born and bred.

Tell us more about your book!

My latest book is the second in the Romancing in Scotland series. They are standalone books, so previous ones don’t need to be read.

This story revolves around Katie. A young lass who is setting up a flower nursey. During a delivery she becomes involved in a car accident and wakes in a strange house. A man is with her and asks Katie her name. And this is where things begin to go wrong for Katie, when she discovers she has amnesia. With no other reason not to believe Angus, he informs her they are married.

When the police have no leads, Katie’s parents hire Finlay, a private investigator. Returning to a place he never wanted to see again, wasn’t on the cards. After making the mistake of peering at Katie’s photo, he knows he is lost. The picture enchants him and off to the borders he goes.

If you want to know how things turn out – you’ll have to read the book.

You’re sharing an elevator with a big-name publisher. Pitch your book using 20 words or less!

As I don’t do elevators, this will probably never happen. But here it goes.

A romantic suspense with enough twists to keep you captivated. And a Siberian husky who comes to the rescue.

What does your ideal writing space look like?

I write my first draft on my tablet, usually with my feet up on the couch or in bed. My edits are on my desktop which is the corner of the lounge. I have a glass of squash to the side and the radio on, if alone. If not, it’s the television which I can drown out.

If your book was turned into a movie, who would play your main characters?

For Finlay I’d like Sam Heughan. I loved him in Outlander and could play the part perfectly. For Katie, I’d consider Emma Watson.

You’re stranded on an island, and only one character from any book can save you. Who are you picking?

For anyone who has read J R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood books, any of the brothers will do. I’m more inclined towards Zsadist. And if you haven’t read them – you really need to.

Besides being a writer, what else do you enjoy?

I work full-time, so my free time is important to me. When not writing I like long walks in the countryside – usually spent wildlife watching. Photography. I also do craft and make decorations.

Do you have any upcoming book promotions?

I’m planning to lower the cost of the first book in the series, Falling for a Duke, over the Easter Holidays, to celebrate the release of Falling for Katie.
