In The Spotlight Today: C. Melita Webb!

How old are you and where are you from?

C: Hello. I am 52 years old. I was born in Chicago and then bought to Seattle when I was about 13 months.

How old were you when you realized you wanted to be a writer?

C: I was drawn to writing and reading in second grade, about age 7 or 8. I loved writing in diaries, visiting libraries and the way books could transport you anywhere in the world. My teacher read my first poem out loud to my class. From that moment on writing has relaxed me. Then the librarian loaned me a few books by Maya Angelou.

Tell us more about your book! What inspired you to write it?

C: God Placed You Here is part of a three volume inspirational and motivational series. The series title is “Poetry from the Heart.” This is the motivational powerhouse of the collection. I kept hearing a lot of people how we’re giving up on life. Children who were bullied and a lot of pain in our society. Then the school girls in South Africa were returned. I remember one picture where they we’re home, but their spirits seems to be crush. I knew they had shame I. Their hearts. Felt their cultural embarrassment for being violated, stolen and abused. I started writing a few poems, and thoughts. Then as I put the book together I felt lead to the title. I wanted everyone with hurt, pain, depression and anxiety to know they are important, wanted and needed by society. More importantly they were created with a glorious purpose that has yet to be fulfilled. So my book celebrates the struggle to realize who we are in God and so much more of our life’s journey.

If you could relate to any character in your book, who would it be and why?

C: My books do not have characters. I tend to think in terms of themes, Feeling God’s Love, Moving Through Life Challenges, Woman to Woman, Wisdoms and Truths. Each theme is something I have had a personal experience with or learned about by helping someone through a personal issue. By using what I know I am able to offer the best life lessons that I know work.

What type of books do you enjoy? What are two of your favorites?

C: Inspirational, Motivational, Self Help, and Memoirs. My two favorites books are Acts of Faith by Iyanla Vandzant and All Gods Children Need Traveling Shoes by Maya Angelou.

Besides reading and writing, what else do you enjoy doing during your free time? Do you have any other businesses?

C: With my vision impairment and chronic pain i find my hobbies limited. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, podcasts, music and use my iPad to record and reflect on my life. Before the eye injuries I loved photography, scrapbooking, genealogy and driving.

If you could pick any song to describe your main character, what would it be?

C: “Shackles” by Mary Mary. I help people learn to see the full beauty of their life, walk stronger in their Truth and embrace a deeper connection to their faith.

Do you have any upcoming books in the works?

C: Yes, one on waking up feeling blessed everyday. And one focusing on the pain chronic pain disease that I fight with called chronic regional pain syndrome. CRPS
