This book is a love letter to Black girls everywhere, who struggle with questions that oftentimes feel like they lead to no answers. The author spoke of her own experiences with Black girlhood, as well as giving us emotional testimonials from other anonymous women. This short read touched on the basics (and not-so-basic) psychological issues we face from childhood, that follow us into adulthood. Self-esteem, absent father's, toxic parenting; all things that ultimately shape who we become.
There were questions presented in this book that are essential for self reflecting. I would recommend this book for group therapy sessions. I feel that it could be a beneficial tool for helping young women cope and deal with internalized issues they may not even be aware of. Check out this book if you have a free afternoon!
