Today in The Writer Spotlight: Corinthian Elizabeth!

Tell me about yourself! How old are you, and where are you from?

I am 28 and I am from Rayville, Louisiana. I am an intuitive healer, artist, teacher, rapper, speaker, and certified life coach. I am passionate about health and wellness. I dream in color and I am excited to share my vision. I am married and I have three children ages 5, 2, & 11 months.

Give us a summary of your book!

Beauty in the Bayou looks at the inner links of the chains in the South that have kept the land and its inhabitants in bondage. Being from the South myself, I am sharing how these chains once had me bound too. Though physical enslavement of African Americans ended on paper in 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment, the South was still last to know. Beauty in the Bayou seeks to shine light in the dark corners that further explain why the South is still considered to be “the bottom”. This book is based on my perspective birthed from some of my personal experiences and observations. I am combining the gifts of poetry, prophecy, storytelling, and art to share my truth in how revisiting the place that I will always love, home, has helped me become whole. I am inviting you on my journey to freedom as I break a plethora of generational curses with the desire to bring hope, healing, and greater awareness to all that will open this book.

What inspired you to write this book?

My visit back home in 2017. I wrote the poems in this book while I was there doing shadow work and tapping in to my gifts as a healer.

If you could pick one song to describe this book, what would it book?

I would have to say my song, “Emergence”! I will be releasing this song soon, it goes with this book!

Have you written any fiction novels as well? If not, would you and what genre?

Yes! They are not published yet. I have children’s books and some romance novels that are in the works for completion when the time is right.

What are two of your favorite books? Least favorite?

Tap the Power Within by Iyanla Vanzant, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, and The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav. Can the third favorite book count? I don’t have a least favorite book. When a book is uninteresting to me, I simply put it down lol.
