In The Spotlight Today: Destinee T. Hawkins!

Tell me about yourself! How old are you, and where are you from?

I am 31 years old and I am from Columbus, Ohio about 8 years ago I relocated to Houston, TX. I have been a business mentor for the last 6 years and positioned myself to help a ton of people. This encouraged me to begin speaking and ultimately led to me writing Let It Go! During the process I began to help others empower themselves in their writing by becoming published authors! I think that is what I enjoy the most as I get to help so many people bring their vision to life!

Give us a summary of your book!

Let It Go provides the steps and motivation that you need to truly stop making excuses and take control of your life! I address fear, setting realistic goals, putting an S.T.O.P to procrastination, manage uncertainty and much more. I even threw some BONUSES in as well to give the reader the opportunity to put these steps to use! This is a quick read that will add value from the very beginning! I wanted to educate and inform in a way that was relatable so I entangled some real life situations to get the reader to really get an understanding of how these things correlate with one another.

What inspired you to write this book?

I wanted to write this book for people who looked like me, talked like me and messed up like ME to see that if you want it bad enough you can achieve it. I wanted women who found themselves in me to see how close success truly was and dare to reach for it! I feel like I owed it to my city, my family and especially myself to truly live unapologetically. I wanted to help my brother and sister to truly let go of what was holding them back and thrive. I didn’t see a lot of that growing up I saw a lot of excuses embodied in fear with a whole lot of pain! I guess I just felt it was my duty to break the generational curses no matter what and my goal is to take everyone with me who wants to come!

Have you written any fiction novels as well? If not, would you and what genre?

I have not published any fictional novels as of yet however I have considered it. I’m thinking something totally different I actually have started a romance novel it’s a little racy but im thinking I will put it out after my upcoming book I plan to release by the end of the year!

What are two of your favorite books? Least favorite?

A Vision to Freedom by Taurea Avant and How to Start A Business Without any Money these two books changed my life! I never found the author even printed on the second book (it was an ebook) but when I tell you they changed my life I mean it! Im sure I have some least favorite books however I guess they were to bad to remember their name

Do you have any other hobbies, or businesses that you would like to share?

I am a book coach, business accelerator and mentor as well as the Owner of Paint & Chill located in Houston, TX

Do you have any upcoming book specials/giveaways or events?

Anything else you would like to share?

I just want to encourage someone who is on the brink of giving up! You are almost there! Just when it feels like you can’t take anymore apply a little more pressure because you are that much closer to your dream! Remember it is a marathon not a sprint and when it happens it is right on time! Always remember your vision is your vision! Just like you can’t pick up someone’s glasses that is farsighted and see their vision as you are nearsighted is the same way it is with your vision to the world! Be intentional in all that you do!
