Tell me about yourself! How old are you, and where are you from?
I’m 42, originally from N.O., LA, currently living in Suwanee, GA. I moved here in 2004 from Hollywood, FL. I’ve been married to my husband, Ray, for 7+ years with a 14 year old son and a fur baby. I’m a FT HR professional.
Give us a summary of your book!
It’s the story of my journey of self-reflection and growth that led me to finding my husband and ultimately, the happiness in my marriage. It deals with the subjects of step-parenting, the impact of your upbringing on your relationships and transitioning from single life to being a wife and mother.
What inspired you to write this book?
I was coming up with t-shirt slogans for a t-shirt business, I wrote down ‘Taken & Happy’ and it immediately sparked the idea of writing about my relationship. I talked to my husband and he was completely onboard. I have been writing a novel for years with characters loosely based on my husband and I that I could never finish. This seemed more appropriate to do. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Additionally, I think writing the book is the ultimate affirmation for my husband.

Have you written any fiction novels as well? If not, would you and what genre?
I’m working on a murder mystery but it’s taken a back seat to my current projects.
What are two of your favorite books? Least favorite?
The Secret and The Night Circus - there’s really too many to name. Least favorite - I can’t recall. If I don’t like a book, I stop reading it so they don’t really resonate with me. There’s been a handful of those.
Do you have any other hobbies, or businesses that you would like to share?
I love to travel, it’s my goal to see as much of the world as I can before I die, having great food, wine and cocktails along the way. I would love to be a travel blogger.

Do you have any upcoming book specials/giveaways or events?
Not at this time. My official book launch was 2/24. I’m finalizing the details on a vlog interview and in-store events with 2nd & Charles and a local boutique to take place in March.

I’m self-published. I’m so immensely grateful for all of the support I’ve received. I’ve always wanted to write a book and I never could have imagined the direction this has taken me in and the places I will go. I have so much more to launch off of this platform and I’m terribly excited and anxious to see it all come to life. Throughout it all, my husband has been my biggest supporter, encourager and fan. I’m so thankful for him.
